Democracy Now: 5 Environmentalists Arrested for Banner Hang at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte
Five environmental activists have been arrested after hanging a protest banner at Charlotte’s Bank of America stadium, where President Obama will close out the Democratic national convention at the end of the summer. The 70-foot banner from the Rainforest Action Network displayed Bank of America’s logo, with the word America crossed out to read, “Bank of Coal.” The Rainforest Action Network says it hung the banner to call attention to Bank of America’s multi-billion dollar ties to the coal industry and the Obama administration’s links to major Wall Street firms.
